From the world of KWS

CSI Wohlde

Cereals live and virtual

Since everything was different in this, the second year of the pandemic, and people were not able to meet in person as usual, the Business Unit Cereals decided to create a completely different format – with and for colleagues. The result is the Cereals Season Investigation 21 (CSI Wohlde), a blend of a cozy, live studio atmosphere and recorded content on cereals from all over the world. From strategic issues and trends, KWS’ digital tools, to many “did you know” facts, there was a diverse assortment of topics as well as studio guests, live calls or the possibility of asking questions directly in a chat. All three episodes are available as a stream in the KWS intranet. |

KWS surfing tip

The new intranet site Digital Farming Solutions provides an overview of our digital offerings for farmers. It explains all the services on our online platform myKWS. It also presents the entire myKWS team, some of whose members work across BU boundaries to ensure that all the tools and services as well as the value added they deliver are integrated well in myKWS and linked to each other. Anyone with questions on the digital services, such as SAT TS-Monitoring or the Vitality Check, can quickly find the right contact persons centrally or in the Business Unit. If you have any ideas or suggestions, get in touch with the team directly. |

Survey among students: KWS has never been so popular

We were one of the 50 most attractive employers in the Universum survey of science students in Germany and the company that made the biggest jump up the rankings ladder: to 43th spot following 57th the year before. In the Universum Student Survey, students voice what qualities they value in an employer, what salary expectations they have, and what their long-term career goals are. 47,010 students from 231 German universities took part in this year’s survey conducted by the employer branding specialist Universum. |

Live on YouTube: Lena Sohnrey, Marie Sandvoß and Matthias Stahlmann (from left to right) initiated the new event format “The Orange Sofa.”

The Orange Sofa – New. Different. Entertaining.

It all began on December 14, 2020: We – Lena Sohnrey, Marie Sandvoß and Matthias Stahlmann – had gotten together to plan an online event that was new and different. It was to be a discussion forum, not an event where speakers just held a presentation – we wanted interaction, entertainment and innovative topics. The result was “The Orange Sofa – The KWS Talk.” And from then on there was no stopping us.

We agreed on two pilot events in March. The location that immediately came to our minds was the cozy log house in Wetze, which seemed perfect for a convivial fireside chat. We hired the company Krümmel Event from Einbeck to help us with technical implementation. It’s a partner known at KWS, and it took care of broadcasting the event live on YouTube.

Now we had to find the right topics. The brainstorming list was long, but finally we selected “The skyscraper farm – Vertical farming” and “More than doing the cooking and serving at the farm shop – Women in agriculture.” And after all the guests and moderator Janina Tiedemann had agreed to attend and we had formulated a coronavirus hygiene concept, there was nothing standing in the way and we were able to move on to advertising the event. As a special extra we booked two surprise guests: The satirist Dietmar Wischmeyer alias Günther the Tractor Driver, and the band “Die Draufgänger.”

The Orange Sofa was a resounding success. A sequel, perhaps even an open air live event from the field, is planned. |

Strategy survey

All employees were invited to take part in a survey on KWS’ strategy, which was conducted from March 17 to April 14. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants for answering our questions and for their feedback. We’re now working hard to analyze the responses. The results will be communicated via various channels (intranet, e-mail, in paper form if applicable and by many other means) in the coming weeks so that our colleagues have a chance to look at them. The survey’s goal was to find out whether colleagues know KWS’ strategy and how they learned about it. |

Meetings and art

The NEWCOMER KWS Art Workshop has been set up on Tiedexer Straße in Einbeck directly next to the NEWCOMER KWS Art Lounge. The new premises offer an additional chance to get closer to art and the Einbeck city center. They can be booked for meetings and workshops via Outlook and offer a further working environment to stimulate creativity. They can also be used to expand the Art Lounge’s exhibition space, hold workshops on art and culture for interested persons, offer assistance for start-ups and stage after-work and other events, for example. We’ll keep you up-to-date about the events and workshops to be held. |
