Global construction projects
“We make growth visible”
From the initial idea, planning, the invitation to tender and on to implementation: The Facility Management Construction Team provides support in all national and international construction projects. We offer a peek into the warehouses, buildings and offices.
Team leader Carsten Schramm, project assistant Annette Brüggemann, draftswoman Silvia Carroll and project managers Renee Miller, Andreas Kunkel and Chris Preuß have helped accomplish construction projects worldwide with their expertise and experience in handling projects for almost four years. Collaboration with other departments, such as Technical Processes and Facility Management Energy, is a key aspect.
A project usually starts with a rough idea, which is followed by preliminary planning, budgeting, an invitation to tender and implementation up to successful completion of the project: a building that is ready to move into.
“Our principle is to give colleagues all-round support with our know-how. The project’s result is a building complying with KWS’ usage, quality and architectural requirements,” says Carsten Schramm. |

Large new building in Lipetsk, Russia
The planning phase for the RUNA project in Lipetsk, Russia, 375 kilometers southeast of Moscow, began in the spring of 2019. Three sugarbeet seed production areas, each 1,000 square meters in size, a 4,000 square meter warehouse, a gatehouse and a two-story office building are to be built within two years. Apart from the offices on the second floor, there will be a canteen, a locker room, a showroom and a quality control lab on the ground floor. Our department supported the project team in Lipetsk. We assume at present that the building and its interior design will be completed in July or August of 2021. |

Expansion of the station in Forlì, Italy
The project to expand the station at Forlì in Northern Italy demonstrates how important our team’s support is in preliminary planning. In dialogue with our colleagues there, we were able to design the entire concept internally and hand over the final draft to be worked on further by a local architect. It goes without saying that we will continue to assist in the subsequent process. |

New office space in Wageningen, the Netherlands
The Business Unit Vegetables has expanded its offices in the innovative Plus Ultra II building on the Wageningen Campus. The Facility Management Construction Team was closely involved in the internal design work and planning. Local building firms were then engaged to do the work. The result is a bright and collaborative workspace for fourteen people and more. |
New warehouse at Bečej, Serbia
A 2,000 square meter concrete building with LED lighting, WiFi, modern sanitary rooms and a new covered driveway: That is the new warehouse at the Bečej plant in Serbia, which is used for receiving and temporarily storing corn and sunflower. The working relationship with the team in Bečej was magnificent. We first agreed on everything in detail internally and then worked together very well with a local general contractor and the local building supervisory authority. |
A new station at Champaign, Illinois, U.S.
The Cereals team in the U.S. had outgrown its breeding station in Champaign, meaning a larger one was needed. Our team supported our colleagues in the U.S. by comparing various options and then assisting them in planning the new building. In the end, two buildings were erected: an office for some 30 people and an equipment warehouse with a workshop. We also designed a new “Breeding Barn.” Our colleagues in Champaign can now accomplish their breeding activities even more easily and conveniently. |

Conversion of the historical Milk House at Wiebrechtshausen, Germany
Renovating listed buildings is a particular challenge. We are currently converting the Milk House at Wiebrechtshausen into office space on behalf of KWS Wiebrechtshausen and the Klosterkammer Hanover. The historical building, which dates from 1858, was gutted and its physical fabric was renovated to great effect by uncovering natural stone surfaces and the historical terrazzo treatment and by laying oak floorboards. At the same time, the Milk House’s functionality and infrastructure were upgraded to meet modern requirements. We installed new thermal insulation and new windows in the roof, for example. A total of some 220 square meters of modern office space was thus created in the building, which was originally used for agricultural purposes. |
