From the world of KWS
Secondary brand Delitzsch merges with KWS
The company Delitzsch was founded by KWS in 1978 with the aim of establishing a secondary brand for sugarbeet seed. For many years, Delitzsch has distributed sugarbeet seed in France, the UK, Belgium, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Egypt, Syria and Morocco. The company was initially based in Wohlde and then in Winsen (Aller). In the wake of reform of the EU’s Sugar Market Regime and the associated reduction in the area under cultivation, the sales territories were sharply focused and the headquarters moved to Einbeck in 2007. Until then, Delitzsch still had its own employees, but after 2007 the company was completely absorbed by KWS. Today, Delitzsch exclusively distributes multigerm seed in Egypt. In order to reduce administrative costs, the company has now been merged with KWS to form a single unit. |
Field inspections are part of the Farming Academy.
Interested in a close-up look at agriculture?
The Farming Academy, our internal further training offering, is perfect for anyone who wants to gain insights into agriculture – for colleagues who do not come from the field or those who want to deepen their knowledge. The courses are held in Germany (at Wiebrechtshausen and Dreileben near Klein Wanzleben) as well as at Mons-en-Pévèle in France and Kondratowice in Poland. The morning is taken up with a theoretical part providing agricultural background knowledge. After a joint lunch, the practical part begins with a guided farm tour, followed by field inspections and other exciting activities. The Farming Academy not only imparts agricultural background information, but also enables colleagues from different departments to network. A brand new feature is the Field Update – for anyone wanting to know what is happening in the fields. Phillip Krainbring, who is farm manager in Dreileben and also active on social media in the area of agriculture/arable farming, provides insights. |
Popular service: 227 orders for Same Day Delivery were received.
Seed delivered on the same day
Have you only noticed in the field that you don’t have enough sugarbeet seed? KWS has offered a solution to this challenge for the second time this year: Thanks to Same Day Delivery, the missing seed is delivered to the farm or even directly to the field if required – within a few hours during the sowing season. Use of this offering by customers speaks for itself: 227 orders with a total of 1,065 units of seed were delivered during the current campaign in Germany. Customers gave the service an average rating of 4.57 out of 5 – reason enough to also offer it in a pilot region for the coming oilseed rape season. |

Costing €51 million, the elite storehouse in Einbeck is one of the largest single construction projects in the history of KWS.
Investment in the future of plant breeding
KWS has successfully completed construction of the new elite storehouse at Einbeck. The building work to expand the capacity for seed processing and storage began in 2022. The investment volume was €51 million, making it one of the largest single construction projects in the company’s history. With more than 70,000 storage bins, the now completed elite storehouse not only boasts far more space, but also an ideal cool climate to ensure that the stored seed has a long shelf life. The focus during construction was on sustainability: Waste heat from the nearby sewage treatment plant is now used to supply heat, while photovoltaic modules on the roof ensure a sustainable power supply. More about the elite storehouse.
Planning is already underway for another project at Einbeck: A phytopathology center of more than 5,000 square meters in size is to be built there. |
