Social
commitment

We’re committed to improving the life of our fellow citizens – and that’s not just been the case since the coronavirus pandemic broke out. KWS is supporting that social engagement with a revised guideline and by enabling greater employee involvement.

Values such as closeness, foresight and reliability shape our corporate culture. These values are also the foundation underpinning our efforts to assume responsibility in society and support and help shape our environment. It’s important for us to be a strong partner, especially in the current situation in which we face exceptional challenges as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

KWS aims to be a role model in helping to shape its own environment and as an active member of society. KWS is therefore committed in diverse ways to do its part for society, as well as to create an attractive climate for colleagues.

Enhancing social engagement and increasing employee involvement

The ideas of KWS’ employees are a key component of our commitment. Support can only be given if the need for it is brought to our attention. We therefore urge you to propose and initiate projects you feel KWS should support. KWS’ employees can change things for the better – and KWS wants to plays its part and help shape its own environment. We’ve therefore set up a donation button named “Soziales Engagement” (“Social Commitment”) for the Einbeck region in the bottom part of the intranet homepage, enabling you to propose projects you believe KWS should donate to or sponsor. #makeyourselfgrow

Social commitment at all KWS locations

KWS’ social engagement is not confined to the Einbeck region, but extends to all KWS locations. As the examples of our exceptional commitment during the corona pandemic show, our efforts are diverse and international. In order to support that engagement, we have revised KWS’ guideline on social commitment. Guideline 2.7.5 can be found in the Group Standards in the IMS on the intranet. |

Our commitment in Einbeck centers on four fields

Culture

We help strengthen the cultural scene by supporting various initiatives and projects. KWS is especially engaged in the field of art, such as by staging various exhibitions in the Biotechnology Center and the KWS Art Lounge in Einbeck, as well as by sponsoring many local art and cultural projects and workshops. #KunstbeiKWS

Social welfare, children and youngsters, health and sports

The development of our children and youngsters and promoting health among all age groups are issues that are very dear to our heart. We therefore support schools, day care centers, sports associations, non-profit organizations and projects. One focus of ours here is our commitment to helping Einbeck’s BürgerSpital hospital.

Science and education

Society benefits lastingly from high-quality science and education. Our support in this field benefits various projects at universities, as well as scientific organizations, congresses and events of national and international importance. We sponsor diverse projects at schools, such as school gardens or support in the area of digitization, so as to ensure children and youngsters also have access to education in times of crisis. #seedingthefuture

Regional structural support

We believe dialogue with regional stakeholders and public institutions and cooperation with other members of the business community are important to make a lasting impact and contribute to regional development at our company’s locations. The common overriding objective is to strengthen the innovativeness and future viability of rural regions. Our sponsorship of the regional marketing company Einbeck Marketing GmbH is one example of that commitment.

Information

Two examples:
Our engagement in the time of the coronavirus

Tablets for senior citizens

KWS gave 15 tablets to retirement homes in cooperation with the Rotary Club Einbeck-Northeim. They are old devices from KWS’ stocks which KWS employees refurbished and donated to various retirement and nursing homes in Einbeck. Their residents often live largely in isolation as a protective measure during the coronavirus pandemic. By providing them with tablets, KWS has enabled them to keep in contact with family and relatives at least online. |

Monitors for a regional hospital in Osijek

Our colleagues at KWS Sjeme d.o.o. in Croatia donated eight vital sign monitors to the regional hospital in Osijek to aid in the treatment of Covid-19 patients. KWS Sjeme d.o.o. regularly supports communities of farmers and producers, but in this exceptional year its employees felt the need to channel their engagement to a social cause and invest in the health of people in the region. |
