Moving
more together

Exercise is important – and we’re active in many sports. In 2023, we as a KWS team ran, rowed or paddled all over the world. We’ve compiled a few examples here. Have we whet your appetite? Then sign up for one of the many offerings now and get involved!

Running and hiking

The Einbeck Beer Town Run was staged at the beginning of May – and 107 runners from KWS, including international colleagues, lined up for a good cause: For every completed kilometer, one euro was donated to the Sternenlichter children’s and youth hospice. The KWS Running Team fielded the most participants and also brought the Team Cup home with it to Grimsehlstrasse 31 for the first time!

Runners from KWS also showed their pace in Berlin, traversing Berlin’s Tiergarten park together with around 18,000 participants. 21 colleagues from the Berlin office took part and ran the 5.5 kilometers, some of them in a new personal best.

KWS Brazil was just as active: Over 50 colleagues completed the various distances in the Corn Run in Patos de Minas, where KWS has a production site. The team not only captured second place in the category with the most runners, but also made a donation to a good cause: Each participant supported a local charity organization with one kilo of non-perishable food.

The KWS Running Team is not only active in runs: 30 colleagues completed the distances of 21 and even 42 kilometers at the TSV Bollensen’s Hikeathon. Together, they covered a total of 777 kilometers and thus repeated their team cup victory from last year.

If you also have a passion for running, you can take advantage of the weekly running training session with Chris Lemke in Einbeck, for example. It is always held on Wednesdays and is open to beginners and advanced runners alike. |

#VegetableFitSquad

Our colleagues from the Business Unit Vegetables displayed their sporting prowess on water and on land. They played in the Seed Valley Soccer Tournament with the company’s own team and paddled through the picturesque canals in North Holland in the summer – even if not everyone’s feet ended up staying dry!

In addition to paddling and soccer, the Vegetable Fit Squad also organizes runs and volleyball tournaments. If you’re interested, feel free to contact Jacco Kaarsemaker. |

Cycling

Almost 12,000 kilometers – that was the impressive distance cycled by colleagues from Wohlde between August 13 and September 2. A total of 36 of them took part in the national City Cycling contest, in which the town of Bergen participated for the first time this year and also received funding from KWS. A team from Einbeck also got into the saddle from May 14 to June 3, covering a good 9,000 kilometers along with 51 participants in the City Cycling event. |

Beach volleyball

1

The Berlin beach volleyball team brings a breath of summer and also appears on the international stage. Founded just recently in 2022, it has now grown to more than twenty active players from many nations. The team meets once a week in both summer and winter and plays just around the corner from the KWS branch office in the Gleisdreieck Park |

Soapbox Derby

1

Sport with a difference – that’s what the team from KWS UK thought and built their very own means of transportation for the annual Soapbox Derby in Duxford near Cambridge. The aim of the derby is to raise money for the charity Cancer Research UK. Almost any type of contraption is allowed: from wheelbarrows to old bathtubs. The team is already working on a new car for 2024 – stay tuned! |
