From the world of KWS
Overview
Treasure chamber
An important milestone was reached at our construction site at Otto-Hahn-Strasse in Einbeck with the topping-out ceremony for the elite storehouse in mid-September. KWS is investing over 40 million euros in the new three-story building with around 13,000 square meters for processing and storing breeding material. It is scheduled to be commissioned in the middle of next year. Felix Büchting, Spokesperson of our Executive Board, states: “The new elite storehouse creates space for processing and storing the increased volumes of high-performance seed and is testimony to KWS’ steady growth. A big thank-you to everyone involved for what has been achieved so far.” |
KWS is selling its corn business in Northeastern China
Changes in corn business in China
KWS and Beidahuang Kenfeng Seed Co., Ltd. (Kenfeng) have agreed on the sale of the 49 percent stake in their joint venture KENFENG - KWS SEED CO., LTD., and the Chinese corn portfolio (including licenses) to Kenfeng. KWS’ corn business in China is being sold in view of the changes in local regulatory conditions. The around 60 employees currently working at the joint venture are to remain part of the company under Kenfeng after the transaction has been closed. KWS will continue to be represented in the Chinese market for sugarbeet seed through Beijing KWS Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd. These activities will not be affected by the potential agreement. The same applies to corn licensing business for Northwestern China. |
Edition 2023 is here
There were once again many people, products and events that filled our corporate values with life in fiscal 2022/2023 – and the KWS portrait “A future rooted in our origins” reports on them. The portrait can be used for different target groups both inside and outside the company, for example for training and career fairs, new employees, customer calls and events, or groups of visitors. The printed edition is available in German and English in the web shop, and there is also an online version with additional information, videos and graphics. |
KWS Rentnertreffen
FutureOn: Cross-crop project in Romania
Three events in different regions, with over 700 farmers – the first cross-crop event organized by our colleagues in Romania was a complete success! Teams from the Sugarbeet and Corn Business Units worked for a year on the project, which took place in late summer in the counties Braila, Giurgiu and Calarasi. In addition to corn, sunflower and fodder beet, visitors were also able to see sorghum and soybeans. For the latter, the team had a special idea and planted the different crops next to each other in a circle – a particular highlight. Accompanied by over 60 of our KWS employees, we not only presented our broad portfolio of crops, but also provided insights into the world of KWS. The aim was to showcase our innovative solutions and technologies in the main trend areas across various crops: sustainability, plant nutrition and digitization. The concept met with a very positive response: Farmers were impressed by the wide range of products and services on offer, particularly with regard to sustainable solutions such as our CONVISO SMART varieties. The team from Romania is already working on a new cross-crop project, this time for autumn sowing. |
