New legal form
How to write KWS
KWS was given a new legal form a year ago when KWS SAAT SE became KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA. Sometimes we’re asked what title should be used when. Here’s a short guide
Basic principle:
- The short version KWS is used in all internal and external non-legal publications.
- For all legally related topics, such as for contracts, business correspondence and calling cards, in e-mail signatures, when contact details and addresses are stated, and in the case of topics from investor relations, the addendum indicating the company’s legal form is obligatory, i.e. the name is written out in full as KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA.
Examples:
- The following applies to all texts: KWS is always written without a hyphen when used together with another word (KWS employees, KWS products, KWS campus, etc.). This directive applies as part of KWS’ corporate wording. Use of the title “KWS Group” is only sensible and correct if all KWS companies worldwide are affected, involved or meant.
- Press releases: KWS is written as above within the text. However, the legal form KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA is stated in the boilerplate.
- Brochures: The name is written as above within the text. The addendum indicating the company’s legal form is only used in the small print.
- Employees of KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA answer phone calls with “KWS” or “KWS in Einbeck” and then their name.
- In the digital arena, please only use KWS.

KWS SAAT (please only in uppercase) can be used in a small handful of cases, for example in relation to our share. KWS SAAT can also be written in print publications in the Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) region and in the Annual Report, company brochures, personal letters and greeting cards. KWS SAAT should then appear in the introduction and KWS used after that. KWS SAAT can be used when you speak at events in the DACH region.
N.B.: The previous company form KWS SAAT SE is legally incorrect and must not be used any more!
Other KWS companies can continue to use their name in the same way in their communications. |
