From the world of KWS

years: That’s how long the orange sun – which is emblematic of our seed – has shone on our logo above the tapering trial fields as a symbol of the diversity of plant cultivation. It has been at the heart of our visual identity since 1972 and is protected worldwide. The BrandNet provides instructions on how the logo may be used. |

Hagen Duenbostel talked with 25 colleagues worldwide as part of the “People of KWS” format.

The puzzle is finished

Testimony to a strong, diverse and international community: Our communication series “People of KWS: Putting the puzzle together” came to an end with 25 participants and an introductory and farewell video. The format was created in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and was a helpful means of continuing to create closeness between colleagues despite the physical distance between them. Spokesperson of the Executive Board Hagen Duenbostel conducted all the talks across national borders – from Germany and the UK, Spain and Hungary to Argentina and Brazil. Insights into the international world of KWS were gained and understanding between different areas of work was fostered in a lively and authentic way. An average of almost 300 video views and comments on the intranet confirm that the format aroused great interest and fulfilled its objectives: “A great idea in these times of isolation.” Or: “A very good idea to create more understanding between the different departments.” In the last video, Hagen Duenbostel meets Léon Broers and together they offer insights into the past and future development of KWS. We eagerly look forward to the next formats! |

A sofa in the cornfield

“The Orange Sofa” moved from the log cabin in Wetze to a natural setting for its first summer edition. The topic was “Inheriting a farm – generational change in agriculture” under the open skies between cereals and grasses. Two brothers, a career changer, a lawyer and the operator of a farm succession website were invited. The format, which can be watched on YouTube and is in German, addresses farmers by taking up real-life issues. Previous episodes focused on women in agriculture and female business founders in this industry. |

Neighborly help

KWS Benelux needed help packing 1,000 tons of the rye “Snelle Lente” and turned to Eduard Gutter from Pop Vriend in the Netherlands. He didn’t dawdle and his team rolled up their sleeves. “We still had capacities in our production, which meant KWS didn’t have to outsource this task to an external company,” says Operations and Process Manager Dennis Kommer from Pop Vriend, which has been part of KWS since 2019. In terms of working hours, it took eight weeks to receive, unpack, weigh, fill, seal, label, palletize and return the seed. |
