GROW

“The digital backbone for our success”

Our company-wide S/4 program is embarking on an exciting new phase. Executive Board member and program sponsor Jörn Andreas shares the strategic vision behind our enhanced approach, the powerful meaning of GROW, and the promising opportunities ahead.

“Based on previous rollouts and feedback from already live entities, we gained valuable insights that developing the template while rolling it out required a different, more focused approach,” says Jörn. “By strategically pausing the rollout, we are ensuring we deliver a fully validated and refined template that sets our teams up for success.” GROW – Global Reliable Operations & Workflows: “The name of our S/4 template is our commitment,” he adds. “It reflects who we are and who we aspire to become: a globally aligned organization driven by reliable and process-based workflows.”

To accelerate progress, we’ve created a synergy by merging our template and rollout teams into one unified, agile team. This new structure fosters clearer roles and faster, more effective decision-making. “We’ve defined process managers and held over 40 scoping sessions to shape GROW,” Jörn explains. “These sessions will be followed by deep dives with business teams to understand what the future processes need to look like.” He adds: “The team has built remarkable momentum over the past months – and we’ve now completed a key milestone: defining cross-crop requirements based on the full scope of KWS SAAT in Einbeck. In the context of our broader transformation, this milestone is crucial: It ensures the template reflects the full scope of our largest entity and can be applied consistently across crops and regions.”

Jörn Andreas: “The name GROW is our commitment.”

Feedback from the countries

Our refined approach builds on valuable feedback from teams in countries where S/4 is already in operation. “We understood that we needed a harmonized system first before expanding further,” says Jörn. “That’s why we’re starting with KWS SAAT – an entity that brings together a broad range of processes – to build a template that is robust enough to serve every part of our organization."

Our roadmap is clear: the team will now finalize the template and prepare the technical infrastructure. A scope freeze is planned by the end of the year, followed by six months of intensive system configuration and testing from summer 2026. KWS Lochow is scheduled to go live on January 1, 2027, followed by KWS SAAT on July 1, 2027.

“This is more than a system implementation; it’s a fundamental transformation of our daily work,” Jörn emphasizes. "Success depends on our collective effort and a strong focus on people. That’s why proactive change management and input from across the business are critical. We’re investing in communication, training, and support structures to ensure every team member feels confident and equipped for this journey. With GROW, we are building the digital backbone that will support our company’s success for the next two to three decades.”
