Yield Scan
Faster comparisons, better ordering
Yield Scan is the latest addition to our myKWS toolbox. The interactive application allows farmers to quickly review the results of the previous season.
Heavy printed catalogs and lengthy consultations were the reality before Yield Scan. The digital tool now enables yield results to be compared directly over several years instead of having to conduct a tedious search for the right information in printed catalogs. What began as a small pilot project in Serbia is now available for oilseed rape and corn in Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and Romania. Our salespeople are hard at work, collecting data in each country on the varieties grown in the region and their yields. That information is shown on a map, including the results of our own demonstration trials, which reveal the differences in plant genetics and cultivation method. Farmers can thus use Yield Scan to see what has been grown on other fields in their region and what the yields in previous years were like.
“In the age of smartphones, it’s vital for us to be able to see the results online,” says Aleksandar Varga, a farmer from Bačko Gradište. His colleague Nikola Pešić from Mionica adds: “It’s so straightforward to use. From moisture to yield – everything is simple to find, which makes selecting hybrids for the next season a lot easier.”
“Yield Scan makes selecting hybrids much easier.”

Realistic means of comparison
It’s particularly useful for selecting varieties for the coming year: Yield Scan makes it possible to compare results from dry years with the yields of an average year, giving farmers a realistic means of comparison.
“I like being able to use the map function to visualize yield results,” says the farmer Miodrag Stankov from Kovilj in Serbia. “The soil and microclimate conditions during the year can really impact the outcome at the end of the year. I can compare it with the situation on my own fields and make an informed decision about which variety to buy next year.” He finds the decision to integrate data from farmers in Yield Scan particularly useful: “Many other companies only publish the results of their plot trials, which don’t reflect real conditions during the year. With YieldScan, I can see that the results tally with my own experience and I can trust them.”
We aim to build on this trust with tools like Yield Scan so as to remain #YourSeedPartner now and in the future. That’s why the Digital Farming team is already planning to incorporate the experience of farmers in Yield Scan for the coming season – so as to deliver even better benefits for our customers moving ahead. |
