Building site update from Berlin

Color contrasts in the KWS style

The 5th floor (conference area) looks resplendent in our brand color HKS 7

Work on KWS’ new office building in Berlin is entering its critical phase: After initial delays, all the invitations to tender are now going as planned. Our lessor handed over the property at the end of November 2019 and so we were able to start on the interior design work at the beginning of December 2019.

It has been a long road to this stage: The project team has now been working to implement the KWS branch office for more than a year and will still need a few more months before everything’s finished.

Completion of the building is scheduled for the first quarter of 2020, so that date is getting closer by the day. “The expanded metal cladding of the hallway ceiling in our conference zone is in our brand color HKS 7 – so you could say that our color has already moved into our new home in Berlin,” says Peter Hofmann from KWS’ Executive Board.

Demanding schedule

Before all the interior design trades were commissioned, invitations to tender were conducted over a number of weeks in close cooperation with our Expert Hub Procurement. Things got going just two days after Andreas Hinsche from KWS Procurement came on board. Following a few technical challenges and delays, initial offers were obtained. Intensive negotiations were then conducted, allowing us to find the right companies for our project and engage them.

Apart from the fact that the work had to be done on budget, adherence to the demanding schedule was a vital selection criterion. After all, we don’t want our Berlin colleagues to have to wait too much longer before moving from their various locations in the city to a shared, state-of-the-art office environment. |
