Dear readers,
insideKWS is once again packed with new stories, ideas and exciting projects in 2026. For example, our watermelon variety Tropikalia: We report how the team in Brazil was able to launch it speedily – and why watermelons in Spain have completely different requirements than in South America.
A delicious smoothie with pea protein milk from KWS? That’s now possible – our first product from the collaboration with vly has now gone on sale.
The first issue in 2026 also marks the start of a new series in the magazine: Women’s Careers @ KWS. In it, female colleagues from a wide variety of fields and countries share their personal experiences, the obstacles they’ve faced and what has helped them on their career path. Marianne from the Netherlands kicks things off.
Small scissors, big impact: Elizabeth Frick from the Gateway Research Center in the U.S. tells us about her work with genome editing. The regulations governing this new breeding method are set to change in Europe. In the U.S., Elizabeth already uses it for various vegetable varieties. She describes why every pair of scissors is different and how the method works.
We wish you an enjoyable read!
