The new intranet can do more
We say goodbye to Sharepoint and hello to the new intranet with its greater range of functions and applications. Here are some powerful tips.
The new intranet offers you the option of personalizing your start page. Creating content in different languages is now even easier.
The look and functions of the new intranet may seem unusual at first sight, but they are specifically tailored to users. Strategic news is more visible, you can personalize your own start page by subscribing to specific content, and content can be translated more quickly into your own language thanks to artificial intelligence. However, the intranet only comes to life thanks to our community of editors – more than a hundred colleagues who actively work on the content to support everyone at KWS with useful tips and information in their day-to-day job.
Easy for editors – creating news is even simpler now
Anyone can publish a contribution in the Studio, either under their own name or as a page (e.g. Corporate Communications) that has been created beforehand. The process is particularly user-friendly: Texts and images can be copied and pasted quickly and the intranet then formats them automatically. So it’s easy to start using the new intranet for your own purposes and communication – and you won’t need extensive training for that.
Did someone say “app”?
We are currently working on rolling out the new intranet to smartphones, too – so that colleagues without a desktop workstation can also access all the content quickly. More information on that will be provided soon.
Activating the power search
The filters are used to narrow down the types of content, enabling you to search for documents, news articles or people – and even define a specific timeframe. Simply enter the search term and off you go!
Pro tip: The intranet sorts the search results by category. So if you are looking for specific news, you should scroll down to “Timeline posts,” then right-click on “See all” to display further results in this particular category.
Want to read news in any language? No problem!
The new intranet lets you translate news into numerous languages. To do that, click on the profile picture or initials at the top, open the settings and select your preferred language under “Preferences” – bingo!
Pro tip: If news is available in the language, it is displayed automatically. Otherwise, a “Translate” button appears at the end of the text in question. Simply click on it and continue reading.
Configure your own perfect start page
What’s special about the new platform? The content on the start page can be personalized, similar to Facebook or Linkedin. Simply follow your favorite pages and communities and the news will then appear in the timeline.
Pro tip: To see all new posts in the timeline, click regularly on the orange “Update” bar.
