International Agro Service
“Highly specialized range of consulting”
What are the tasks of the International Agro Service (IAS) and why is it so important for sugarbeet? Nils Klingemann, Head of IAS, provides an overview.
What is the mission of the International Agro Service?
Put simply, the International Agro Service in sugarbeet is the link between Breeding and Product Management on the one hand and Sales on the other. The IAS was founded in 2013 while we were preparing to put CONVISO® SMART on the market. The launch of the cultivation system made it clear at the time that key agronomic questions had to be answered at an early stage.
The stewardship programs for CONVISO® SMART and CR+ are also important for us: They ensure that our products are used correctly and sustainably. Together with the local Agro Services and colleagues from Sales, we regularly gather feedback from practice so that we can keep improving. Whenever new technologies in sugarbeet are to be rolled out globally, we develop the basic cultivation concepts. They are then tailored to the respective markets by our local colleagues.
Nils Klingemann: The international network is a strong community.
Why does the Business Unit Sugarbeet need an Agro Service?
Customers and farmers appreciate the local Agro Service, as it offers a highly specialized range of consulting on all agronomic and variety-specific issues relating to sugarbeet.
There is a great need for consulting. It is therefore good and important that we have established a strong community together with the local Agro Services in the form of the International Agro Service network. That ensures the best-possible support for our technologies and products, from their development to their long-term use by customers, both locally and internationally.
How do the Agro Services share information with each other?
We use various formats, ranging from the monthly BeetChat to the annual Summer Summit. The latter was held for the 10th time in June 2023 at the Wiebrechtshausen monastery estate. Nearly forty participants from more than 10 markets attended and discussed not only traditional agronomic topics, but also Connected Seeds as well as future outlooks. The new solutions and ideas that emerged show that intensive dialogue in the International Agro Service network is a major success factor for the Business Unit Sugarbeet.
What opportunities are there for employees to learn more about sugarbeet?
Our Agro Service Academy offers a one-week training course on sugarbeet each spring and fall. It is aimed primarily at (new) colleagues in the Agro Service.
In September, we have a new format under the umbrella of the Farming Academy: a Deep Dive Sugarbeet. It gives all colleagues with no prior knowledge an introduction to the world of sugarbeet.
